A small circle suddenly appeared on my phone screen. What is its purpose?

If you are using a Huawei phone, please first determine what type of small circle is appearing on the screen. Common scenarios include: floating navigation button, touch operation circle, accessibility screen touch control circle, and Bluetooth mouse connection circle. Specifically:

1. Please disable the floating navigation button.

Note: This step is not applicable to HarmonyOS 5 phones.

Please go to your phone's settings, search for and tap "Floating Navigation." You can learn how to navigate through the floating navigation interface. You can also disable floating navigation if you don't need it.

2. Please disable the touch operation circle.

During screen recording, open your phone's settings, search for and enter "Developer options," find the "Show touch operation" switch, and turn it off. The small circle will no longer appear in this screen recording. (After upgrading to HarmonyOS 3.0 and above, turning off the "Show touch operation" switch will prevent the small circle from appearing in subsequent screen recordings.) We recommend opening Settings, searching for and entering "Developer options," finding the "Show touch operation" switch, and turning it off. The small circle will then no longer appear.

Tip: If you don't see Developer Options/Developer Options, open Settings, tap About phone/This device to enter the corresponding page:

HarmonyOS 5: Quickly tap the software build number 7 times until a prompt appears to enable Developer Options. Tap to confirm, restart, and enable it.

HarmonyOS 4.X and below: Quickly tap the EMUI build number/HarmonyOS build number 7 times until a prompt appears indicating you are in developer mode!

Setting the Developer Options/Developer Options mode options requires a basic understanding of your phone's features. Incorrect settings may cause phone malfunctions or even crashes. It is strongly recommended that you disable Developer Options mode in daily use.

3. Please set the screen touch duration to Short

When your screen touch tap duration is set to Long/Medium, tapping the screen requires pressing and holding for 3-5 seconds or more until the blue progress bar in the circle turns white for it to take effect.

Please go to Settings, search for and enter Screen Touch, and set the tap duration to Short (default). After that, tapping the screen will no longer display the circle.

4. Disconnect the Bluetooth mouse

Please disconnect the Bluetooth mouse before use.

If the above methods fail to resolve your issue, please call Huawei Customer Service Hotline: 950800. We are happy to assist you and wish you a pleasant life!
